THIRD QUARTER OF 2008
In the third quarter of 2008, as compared to the third quarter of 2007, the quantity of forest protection agents used was somewhat larger, except for the group Other forest protection agents, which remained at the same level. The quantity of fertilisers and soil improvement agents used was smaller, while the quantities of energy and fuels consumed for all sorts of fuels were somewhat larger. The value of materials used was somewhat smaller, while the value of services done in forestry was somewhat larger, as compared to the third quarter of 2007.

NOTES ON METHODOLOGY
Source and methods of data collection
Data on services for the reference quarter were obtained by the collection and processing of data for reporting units engaged in services as defined in section A, class 02.02, of the NKD 2002. (NN, No. 13/03). Data referring to class 02.02 were collected by extracting data from the ŠUM-22/3M form for state-owned forests and do not contain data on services referring to privately-owned forests.
Coverage and comparability
Since 1998, data on the production of forest products have been collected on the basis of the Nomenclature of Forest Products and Services, NŠPU-98 (NN, No. 46/98). The Nomenclature was made for the needs of forestry statistics. It is based on the List of Characteristic Products of the Commercial Timber Production compiled by the Eurostat (the Statistical Office of the European Union) and published as an integral part of the Manual for Economic Accounts of Agriculture and Forestry in November 1997.
