NOTES ON METHODOLOGY
Source and collecting methods
Data on freshwater fish and milt production have been collected separately for legal entities with their parts and for independent fishermen. This survey collects data on surface areas of carp and trout fishponds, production of one-year old and two-year old milt, production of consumer fish, quantities of consumed food and fertilisers.
Coverage and comparability
Reporting units, for which the annual report on freshwater fishing is being submitted, are legal entities and parts of legal entities (taken from the Register of Business Entities) as well as independent fishermen, classified into the NKD 2002. section B (subclasses: 05.01.2 and 05.02.2) or into another activity, who are engaged in economic freshwater fishing or breeding of freshwater fish and milt.
Coverage for legal entities and their parts is full. Since 1999, independent fishermen engaged in economic freshwater fishing or breeding of freshwater fish have also been included.
Definitions
Exploited fishpond area (area under fish production) in the course of the reference year is considered to be a useful water area in the previous year. It is almost always either smaller than the total useful water area or equal to it, taking into account that not all of fishing facilities for fish production are used during a year.
Produced fish catches are considered to be quantities sold on the market. The weight (increment) realised in the reference year that was not sold on the market but moved to the winter fishpond is excluded.
Economic fishing is an activity of catch and production of freshwater fish and milt for money-making purposes.
