NOTES ON METHODOLOGY

Source and methods of data collection

Sale and purchase of agricultural, forestry and fishing products are collected on the monthly basis through PO-31a/M and PO-31b/M forms.

Reporting units, for which monthly reports on sale and purchase of agricultural, forestry and fishing products are submitted (PO-31a/M and PO-31b/M forms), are legal entities and parts thereof classified into section A Agriculture, hunting and forestry (except for group 01.7 Hunting, trapping and related service activities) as well as other legal entities and tradesmen engaged in processing and purchasing of agricultural, forestry and fishing products, classified in other activities according to the NKD 2007.

Since 2005, questionnaire has been revised and harmonised with the Handbook for EU Agricultural Price Statistics, 2002.

Coverage and comparability

The coverage is selective. It includes legal entities employing 10 or more persons and tradesmen and it covers 90% of profit realised in sections A.

The PO-31a/M form explores the sale of agricultural, forestry and fishing products from own production of legal entities and parts thereof as well as tradesmen.

The PO-31b/M form explores the purchase of agricultural, forestry and fishing products from family farms with the aim of a further sale or processing.

The subject of monthly surveys is collecting of data on producers’ sold or purchased products in a reporting month. A questionnaire contains quantities, values and average prices.

The PO-31a/M and PO-31b/M forms cover 134 most important products.

This Release provides average prices of selected products realised in sale or purchase of agricultural, forestry and fishery products that are typical for a particular month, as well as products with a higher share in the total sale or purchase that month.

Producers’ prices including taxes (except VAT) are reported, while subventions and other financial supports are excluded.
