INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION VOLUME INDICES –
SEASONALLY AND CALENDAR-ADJUSTED INDICES AND TREND, 2009
The total industrial production in the Republic of Croatia in January 2009, as compared to December 2008, decreased by 1.0%.
The monthly industrial production in the Republic of Croatia in January 2009, as compared to January 2008, decreased by 6.2%.
In the period from February 2008 to January 2009, as compared to the industrial production in the period from February 2007 to January 2008, the total industrial production decreased by 0.6%.
Regarding the NKD 2007. sections, in January 2009, as compared to December 2008, the production in Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply increased by 5.0% and in Manufacturing by 0.1%, while in Mining and quarrying it decreased by 1.1%. Regarding the MIGs 2009., the production of Energy increased by 6.4%, of Capital goods by 0.7%, and of Intermediate goods by 0.1%, while the production of Non-durable consumer goods decreased by 0.3% and of Durable consumer goods by 0.1%.

In January 2009, as compared to January 2008, the industrial production in Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply increased by 8.2%, while in Manufacturing it decreased by 9.1% and in Mining and quarrying by 8.7%. Regarding the MIGs 2009., the production trend of Energy increased by 5.6% and of Capital goods by 2.2%, while the production trend of Durable consumer goods decreased by 28.7%, of Intermediate goods by 11.4% and of Non-durable consumer goods by 1.7%.

Comparing the last twelve months with the previous ones (average annual chain change rate), section Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply increased by 3.7%, while Mining and quarrying decreased by 2.7% and Manufacturing by 0.7%. Regarding the MIGs 2009., Capital goods increased by 3.3%, Non-durable consumer goods by 1.6% and Energy by 0.7%, while Durable consumer goods decreased by 6.1% and Intermediate goods by 2.0%.

According to the selected NKD 2007. divisions, in January 2009, as compared to the previous month, the industrial production increased in the following divisions: Printing and reproduction of recorded media by 2.5%, Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment by 0.6 %, Manufacture of other transport equipment by 0.4%, Manufacture of wood of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials increased by 0.1%, Repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 0.1%, while in Extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas and in Manufacture of beverages it remained at the same level as in the previous month, that is, the change rate was 0.0%. The decrease was recorded in the following divisions: Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 5.5%, Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products by 2.2%, Manufacture of machinery and equipment n. e. c. by 1.0%, Manufacture of electrical equipment by 0.7% and Manufacture of food products by 0.5%.

In January 2009, as compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the selected NKD 2007. divisions, the industrial production in Repair and installation of machinery and equipment increased by 12.9%, in Printing and reproduction of recorded media by 4.5%, in Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment by 4.1%, in Manufacture of other transport equipment by 2.9%, in Manufacture of beverages by 0.9% and in Extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas by 0.5%, while in Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products it decreased by 12.3%, in Manufacture of electrical equipment by 10.1%, in Manufacture of food products and in Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 5.7% each, in Manufacture of machinery and equipment n. e. c. by 5.1% and in Manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials by 1.1%.
In the period from February 2008 to January 2009, as compared to the previous twelve months, according to the selected NKD 2007. divisions, the industrial production increased in the following divisions: Printing and reproduction of recorded media by 7.5%, Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment by 6.6%, Manufacture of other transport equipment by 5.3%, Manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 2.1%, Manufacture of machinery and equipment n. e. c. by 1.7%, Manufacture of beverages by 1.4%, Manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials by 0.7% and Extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas as well as Manufacture of food products by 0.5% each, while in Manufacture of electrical equipment it decreased by 9.4%, in Manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products by 3.5% and in Repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 3.3%.
All change rates in this Release were calculated on the basis of trend.
