MAIN INDUSTRIAL STRUCTURAL BUSINESS INDICATORS, 2008

First results

First results in this release refer to data on elements of production accounts, persons employed and gross wages and salaries generated in industrial activities of the Republic of Croatia. Data were obtained through the Structural Business Survey on Industry for 2008 (hereinafter referred to as 2008 SBS-ind). The term “industry” refers here to sections B, C, D and E (division 36 only) of the NKD 2007. activities (NN, Nos. 58/07 and 72/07) in which active legal entities and tradesmen as well as parts thereof, employing 10 or more persons, were engaged in 2008.

According to the 2008 SBS-ind first results, there were 3 309 active industrial enterprises employing 274 019 persons and 4 549 industrial LKAUs of industrial and non-industrial enterprises employing 261 003 persons, according to definitions applied in this Survey (see Notes on Methodology at the end of this release).

In 2008, industrial enterprises in the Republic of Croatia generated the total income from sales of products and services in the amount of more then 171 127 million kuna, with intermediate consumption costs of more then 119 206 million kuna and gross value added of 54 367 million kuna. The comparison of 2008 and 2007 data on industrial enterprises, which were collected and processed according to the same statistical standards, shows that the total income of sales of products and services, according to the 2008 SBS-ind first results, increased in 2008 by 10.1%, intermediate consumption costs by 9.8% and gross value added generated by industrial enterprises by 12.2%.

Industrial LKAUs of industrial and non-industrial enterprises generated the total income from sales of products and services in the amount of more then 158 698 million kuna, with more then 110 792 million kuna of the total intermediate consumption costs and
50 614 million kuna of gross value added. The comparison of 2008 and 2007 data on industrial LKAUs, which were collected and processed according to the same statistical standards, shows that in 2008, according to the 2007 SBS-ind first results, the total income from sales of products and services in 2008 increased by 9.1%, intermediate consumption costs by 9.1% and gross value added generated by industrial LKAUs by 10.8%, as compared to 2007.

Special note to users: statistical data presented in this Release cannot be compared with data on the structure and perfomance of the industry sector that were collected and/or processed on the basis of different methodological approaches and/or not applying the same concepts and definitions.
