1) Revised data on 1st quarter 2009 are included.

NOTES ON METHODOLOGY

Source and methods of data collection

Land transport and transport via pipelines, according to the NKD 2007., cover division 49: railway transport, road transport, urban transport and transport via pipelines (transport of oil and gas).

Data on railway transport have been collected through the regular Quarterly Report on Railway Transport (PŽ/T-11 form).

Data on road transport of passengers have been collected through the Quarterly Report on Road Transport (PA/M-11 form).

Data on road transport of goods for hire or reward and for own account have been collected through the weekly Statistical Survey on Road Transport of Goods (PA/T-11 form).

Data on urban transport of passengers have been collected through the Quarterly Report on Urban Transport (PG/T-11 form).

Data on transport via pipelines have been collected through the Quarterly Report on Pipelines (PC/T-11 form).

Coverage

Data on railway transport of passengers and goods refer to the activity of legal entities registered in the Register of Business Entities of the Central Bureau of Statistics that are engaged in railway transport of passengers and goods. Also included is the urban transport of passengers.

Data on road transport of passengers relate to activity of business entities (legal entities and natural persons) that are engaged in transport of passengers by buses.

Data on road transport of goods for hire or reward and for own account refer to the operation of legal entities and natural persons engaged in the transport of goods. The random sample method is used to carry out this survey. Vehicles selected into the sample are monitored in the period of one week.

Statistical units are freight road vehicles (including road tractors) with a loading capacity of over 3 500 kg that are registered with the Ministry of the Interior. Reporting units are business entities (legal entities and natural persons) who own or just use a freight road vehicle selected into the sample. Since 1 January 2008, the survey has been revised, so data are completely harmonised with the EU legislation.

Urban transport of passengers covers organised public transport of passengers conducted by business entities which are engaged in urban transport of passengers.

Data on transport via pipelines relate to the activities of legal entities engaged in transport of oil and gas via pipelines.
