NOTES ON METHODOLOGY

Source and methods of data collection

Data on public cleaning services and maintenance of public toilets in 2008 were collected through the reporting method on the form – Report on Public Cleaning Service and Maintenance of Public Toilets (KOM-6).

Reporting units were business units providing public utility services.

This statistical survey has been conducted every forth year.

Coverage and comparability

The survey covers only urban settlements with 5 000 and more inhabitants according to the 2001 Census, with the exception of Krapina which was included as the largest urban settlement in County of Krapina-Zagorje.

Definition

Public cleaning services include organized cleaning of streets, public squares and other public spaces, as well as organized waste collection by public utilities or other business units.

Special motor vehicles are vehicles made and technically equipped for a particular cleaning activity.

Other motor vehicles are regular trucks, tractors for the equalization of ground at depot, etc.

Surface area of cleaned streets is street area cleaned from street waste, mud, snow, leaves,etc through mechanical and technical means.

Public toilets are spaces and appliances intended for public use of citizens.

Toilet bowls are sitting bowls in booths.

Urinals are standing bowls in one room.
