CANDIDATES FOR DOCTORATE – PERSONS IN PROCESS OF
OBTAINING DOCTORATE OF SCIENCE, 2009/2010 ACADEMIC YEAR

 

 

U akademskoj godini 2009./2010., od ukupno 3 072 doktoranda 2 855 ih je upisalo poslijediplomski sveučilišni doktorski studij, a 217 ih je prijavilo doktorat. Udio žena jest 1 629, što iznosi 53,0%.

 

In the 2009/2010 academic year, out of the total of 3 072 doctoral candidates, 2 855 of them enrolled on doctoral studies and 217 registered a doctoral dissertation. The share of women was 1 629 (53.0%).

 

 

 

Na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu na doktorski studij bilo je upisano odnosno doktorat je prijavilo 71,6% doktoranada, na Sveučilištu u Osijeku 11,6%, na Sveučilištu u Splitu 8,3%, na Sveučilištu u Rijeci 4,7%, na Sveučilištu u Zadru 2,1%, na Sveučilištu u Puli 1,4%, a na Sveučilištu u Dubrovniku 0,3%.

 

There were 71.6% of all doctoral studies and doctoral dissertations registered at the University of Zagreb, 11.6% at the University of Osijek, 8.3% at the University of Split, 4.7% at the University of Rijeka, 2.1% at the University of Zadar, 1.4% at the University of Pula and 0.3% at the University of Dubrovnik.

 

 

 

Prema godinama života, najviše doktoranada ima u skupini do 29 godina (54,9%), a najmanje u skupini 60 i više godina (0,1%). U skupini 30 – 34 godine ima 20,1% doktoranada, u skupini 35 – 39 godina 11,4%, u skupini 40 – 44 godine 7,0%, u skupini 45 – 49 godina 3,9%, u skupini 50 – 54 godine 1,8%, a u skupini 55 – 59 godina ima 0,8% doktoranada.

 

Regarding age, the largest number of all doctoral candidates was classified in the age group under 29 (54.9%) and the smallest one in the 60-and-over group (0.1%). There were 20.1% of doctoral candidates in the 30 – 34 age group, 11.4% in the 35 – 39 age group, 7.0% in the 40 – 44 age group, 3.9% in the 45 – 49 age group, 1.8% in the 50 – 54 age group and, finally, 0.8% in the 55 – 59 age group.

 

 

 

Promatrajući znanstvena područja na koja se odnose studiji i prijavljeni doktorati, najviše je zastupljeno područje tehničkih znanosti (25,2%), slijedi područje društvenih znanosti (22,9%), područje prirodnih znanosti (17,4%), područje humanističkih znanosti (15,3%), područje biomedicine i zdravstva (11,9%), područje biotehničkih znanosti (4,2%) i interdisciplinarno područje (3,1%).

 

According to the scientific field of studies and registered dissertations, the most often chosen field was Engineering with 25.2%, followed by Social sciences with 22.9%, Life sciences with 17.4%, Humanities with 15.3%, Biomedicine and health with 11.9%, Biotechnical sciences with 4.2% and Interdisciplinary field with 3.1%.

 

 

 

Prema državljanstvu, od ukupnog broja doktoranada 97,8% su državljani Republike Hrvatske, a 2,2% ima strano državljanstvo.

 

By citizenship, out of the total number of doctoral candidates, 97.8% of them are citizens of the Republic of Croatia and 2.2% are foreign citizens.

Od svih doktoranada hrvatskih državljana, 97,4% je prethodno diplomiralo u Republici Hrvatskoj, a 2,6% izvan nje.

 

Out of the total number of citizens of the Republic of Croatia, 97.4% had previously graduated in the Republic of Croatia and 2.6% in other countries.

 

 

 

Prema prebivalištu, 96,4% doktoranada ima prebivalište u Republici Hrvatskoj, a 3,6% izvan nje.

 

By country of usual residence, 96.4% of doctoral candidates are residents of the Republic of Croatia and 3.6% are residents of other countries.

 

 

 

Zaposlenih je doktoranada 93,9%, a 6,1% ih je nezaposleno. Od svih zaposlenih doktoranada, najviše ih je u području obrazovanja, i tu ih je zaposleno 46,2%, u području stručnih, znanstvenih i tehničkih djelatnosti zaposleno ih je 19,2%, u području djelatnosti zdravstvene zaštite i socijalne skrbi zaposleno ih je 12,7%, u području javne uprave i obrane, obveznoga socijalnog osiguranja zaposleno ih je 5,7%, u području informacija i komunikacija zaposleno ih je 3,3%, a 12,9% ih pripada svim ostalim djelatnostima.

 

Out of the total number of doctoral candidates, 93.9% of them were employed and 6.1% were unemployed. By activities, the largest number of doctoral candidates were employed in Education (46.2%), in Professional, scientific and technical activities (19.2%), in Health and social welfare (12.7%), in Public administration and defence; compulsory social security (5.7%), in Information and communication (3.3%) and in other activities (12.9%).

 

 

 

Od ukupnog broja doktoranada, 41,2% sami su platili doktorski studij, odnosno postupak stjecanja doktorata, poslodavac je platio troškove za 35,2% doktoranada, Ministarstvo znanosti, obrazovanja i športa snosilo je troškove za 22,0% doktoranada, a 1,6% doktoranada pripada kategoriji ostalo.

 

Out of the total number of doctoral candidates, 41.2% of them paid for doctoral study/process of obtaining a doctorate themselves, 35.2% were supported by the employer, 22.0% were supported by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and 1.6% belonged to the category Other.

Podaci su rezultat statističke obrade Prijavnih listova za doktorande – osobe u postupku stjecanja doktorata znanosti (obrazac ŠV-40) koje ispunjavaju doktorandi pri upisu na doktorski studij odnosno pri prijavi doktorata

 

Data are the result of statistical annual processing of the Registration Sheet for Doctoral Candidates – Persons in Process of Obtaining Doctorate of Science (ŠV-40 form) filled in by doctoral candidates while enrolling on study or entering doctoral dissertation.

Ovim statističkim istraživanjem obuhvaćeni su doktorandi pri upisu na doktorski studij, odnosno pri prijavi doktorata u akademskoj godini 2009./2010.

 

This statistical survey includes all doctoral candidates who enrolled on doctoral study or registered doctoral dissertation in the 2009/20010 academic year.

Definitions and explanations

 

 

 

Visoko učilište jest svaka ustanova visoke naobrazbe ovlaštena za ustroj i izvedbu studija te znanstvenog, visokostručnog ili umjetničkog rada. Visoka učilišta jesu sveučilište te fakulteti i umjetničke akademije u njegovu sastavu, veleučilišta i visoke škole. Visoka učilišta mogu biti javna i privatna.

 

Institution of higher education – any institution of higher education authorised to organise and implement courses of study as well as scientific research, highly professional or artistic work. Institutions of higher education are university and adjoining faculties and art academies, polytechnic and school of higher educational institutions of higher education may be public and private.

 

 

 

Doktorandi – osobe u postupku stjecanja doktorata znanosti – mogu upisati organizirani poslijediplomski doktorski studij ili mogu  prijaviti doktorat u skladu sa Zakonom o znanstvenoj djelatnosti i visokom obrazovanju (NN, br. 123/03.) te Zakonom o izmjenama i dopunama Zakona o znanstvenoj djelatnosti i visokom obrazovanju  (NN, br. 105/04.).            

 

Doctoral candidates – persons in the process of obtaining a doctorate of science – they can enrol on organised postgraduate doctoral study or register a doctoral dissertation in accordance with the  Act on Scientific Activity and Higher Education (NN, No.123/03) and the Act on Amendments to the Act on Scientific Activity and Higher Education (NN, No. 105/04).

 

 

 

Poslijediplomski studiji klasificiraju se prema Pravilniku o znanstvenim i umjetničkim  područjima, poljima i granama (NN, br. 118/09.).

 

Postgraduate studies are classified according to the Rule Book of Scientific and Artistic Fields (NN, No. 118/09).

 

 

 

Poslijediplomski sveučilišni studij može se upisati nakon završetka diplomskoga sveučilišnog studija.

 

Postgraduate university study can be enrolled on after the completion of a graduate university study.

 

 

 

Poslijediplomski sveučilišni studij traje u pravilu tri godine. Ispunjenjem svih propisanih uvjeta javnom obranom doktorskog rada stječe se akademski stupanj doktor znanosti (dr. sc.) odnosno doktor umjetnosti (dr. art.).

 

Postgraduate university study lasts, as a rule, for three years and, upon its completion, the academic degree of Doctor of Science (Dr. Sc.) or Doctor of Arts (Dr. Art.) is awarded.

 

 

 

Studenti upisani na poslijediplomski doktorski studij prije ustrojavanja preddiplomskih i poslijediplomskih studija, u skladu s odredbama spomenutog zakona, imaju pravo dovršiti studij prema nastavnom programu i uvjetima koji su vrijedili pri upisu u prvu godinu studija i steći odgovarajući akademski stupanj prema propisima koji su vrijedili prije stupanja na snagu tog zakona.

 

Students enrolled on postgraduate doctoral study before the establishment of undergraduate and postgraduate studies pursuant to provisions of this Act will have the right to complete the study according to the curriculum and conditions required at the enrolment on the first year of study and obtain the appropriate academic degree according to the regulations in force before entry into force of this Act.

 

 

 

Studenti kojima je na temelju prijašnjih propisa odobrena tema za izradu doktorskog rada bez doktorskog studija imaju pravo obrane doktorskog rada i stjecanja doktorata znanosti prema propisima koji su vrijedili do stupanja na snagu tog zakona.

 

Students to whom the topic of their doctoral dissertation without the doctoral study has been approved according to the previous regulations will have the right to defend their doctoral dissertation and obtain the scientific doctoral degree according to the regulations in force before entry into force of this Act.

 

 

 

Osobe koje su prema propisima koji su bili na snazi prije stupanja na snagu tog zakona stekle magisterij znanosti mogu, u skladu s općim aktom sveučilišta, steći doktorat znanosti obranom doktorskog rada prema propisima koji su vrijedili na dan stupanja na snagu Zakona, najkasnije u roku od osam godina od dana stupanja na snagu.

 

Persons who have obtained the master’s degree according to the regulations in force before entry into force of this Act may, in accordance with the regulations of the university, obtain the doctoral degree by defending the doctoral dissertation according to the regulations in force on the date of entry into force of this Act, at the latest within the term of eight years from the date of its entry into force.

 

 

 

Visoko učilište može, ako je to predviđeno njegovim općim aktom, osobama koje su upisale poslijediplomski znanstveni magistarski studij prema propisima koji su vrijedili prije stupanja na snagu Zakona, ali taj studij nisu dovršili, omogućiti na njihov zahtjev da, uz ispunjavanje određenih uvjeta (polaganje ispita, izvršavanje drugih obaveza), studij završe izradom doktorske disertacije i time steknu doktorat znanosti.

 

Students enrolled in postgraduate master’s study according to provisions valid before entry into force of this Act, but have not completed it, may have the right, at their request, to complete the study, providing that they fulfilled certain conditions (passing of exams, fulfilling other obligations), by producing the doctoral dissertation and obtain the degree of the doctor of science, if it is defined in general provisions of the university.
