Od ukupno 1 072 doktora znanosti u 2011., na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu doktoriralo je 77,3% kandidata, na Sveučilištu u Rijeci 8,3%, na Sveučilištu u Osijeku 6,1%, na Sveučilištu u Splitu 4,7%, na Sveučilištu u Zadru 2,3%, a na Sveučilištu u Puli 1,3% kandidata. Udio žena doktora znanosti jest 56,8%.

 

In 2011, out of the total of 1 072 graduated doctors of science, 77.3% of them obtained their degree at the University of Zagreb, 8.3% at the University of Rijeka, 6.1% at the University of Osijek, 4.7% at the University of Split, 2.3% at the University of Zadar and 1.3% at the University of Pula. The share of female doctors of science was 56.8%.

 

 

 

U 2011. najveći je broj doktorskih disertacija iz područja biomedicine i zdravstva i iznosi 25,0%, slijedi područje društvenih znanosti s 22,2%, područje prirodnih znanosti s 18,9%, područje humanističkih znanosti s 13,7%, područje tehničkih znanosti s 10,1%, područje biotehničkih znanosti s 8,6%, interdisciplinarno područje znanosti s 1,2%, a najmanje je doktorskih disertacija iz umjetničkoga područja, tj. 0,3%.

 

The largest number of doctoral dissertations in 2011 was defended in the fields of biomedicine and health, 25.0%, followed by social sciences, 22.2%, life sciences, 18.9%, humanities, 13.7%, engineering, 10.1%, biotechnical sciences, 8.6%, interdisciplinary fields of science, 1.2%,  and while the smallest number was defended in the artistic field, 0.3%.

 

 

 

Prosječna starost doktora znanosti jest 41,1 godina, dok je modalna grupa (s najvećom frekvencijom) od 30 do 34 godine. Žene su u prosjeku nešto mlađe (39,7 godina) od muškaraca (40,7 godina).

 

The average age of graduated doctors of science was 41.1 years, while the modal group (with the highest frequency) consisted of persons aged 30 to 34. On the average, women were somewhat younger (39.7 years) than men (40.7 years).

 

 

 

Akademski stupanj magistra znanosti već je steklo 57,3% doktora znanosti. U 89,1% slučajeva doktorska disertacija iz istoga je znanstvenog područja kao i magistarski rad. Od ukupnog broja doktora znanosti koji su prethodno stekli akademski stupanj magistra znanosti, 94,5% magistriralo je u Republici Hrvatskoj, a 5,5% izvan nje.

 

There were 57.3% of doctors of science that have already obtained a master’s degree. In 89.1% of cases, themes of doctoral dissertations covered the same field as master’s theses. Out of the total number of doctors of science who have already obtained a master’s degree, 94.5% obtained it in the Republic of Croatia and 5.5% abroad.

 

 

 

Najveći broj doktora znanosti zaposlen je u djelatnosti obrazovanja (42,7%), u  djelatnosti zdravstvene zaštite i socijalne skrbi  zaposleno  ih je 25,7%, u stručnim, znanstvenim i tehničkim djelatnostima zaposleno ih je 13,1%, u djelatnosti javne uprave i obrane; obveznoga socijalnog osiguranja zaposleno ih je 5,2%. U svim ostalim djelatnostima zaposleno je 11,3% doktora znanosti, dok je 2,0% doktora znanosti nezaposleno.

 

The largest number of graduated doctors of science was employed in the following activities: 42.7% in education, 25.7% in human health and social welfare, 13.1% in professional, scientific and technical activities, and 5.2% in public administration and defence; compulsory social security. There were 11.3% of doctors of science employed in other activities, while 2.0% of them were unemployed.

 

 

 

Troškove doktorskog studija i postupka stjecanja doktorata za  41,1% doktora znanosti platio je poslodavac, 36,0% doktora znanosti sami su platili studij, za 20,5% platilo je Ministarstvo znanosti, obrazovanja i sporta, a 2,3% pripada kategoriji ostalo.

 

Costs of the postgraduate university studies leading to a doctoral degree and proceedings for obtaining the doctoral degree was paid by an employer for 41.1% of doctors of science, 36.0% of doctors of science paid on their own, the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports paid for 20.5% of doctors of science, and 2.3% belonged to the category Other.

Podaci su rezultat godišnje obrade Statističkih listova za doktore znanosti (obrazac ŠV-70), koje ispunjavaju doktori znanosti pri stjecanju toga akademskog stupnja.

 

Data are the result of the annual data processing of statistical sheets for doctors of science (ŠV-70 form), which are filled in by doctors of science at obtaining this degree.

Statističkim istraživanjem obuhvaćena su visoka učilišta na području Republike Hrvatske koja ustrojavaju i izvode poslijediplomski sveučilišni studij za stjecanje doktorata znanosti ili omogućuju stjecanje doktorata znanosti u skladu sa Zakonom o znanstvenoj djelatnosti i visokom obrazovanju (NN, br. 123/03.) te Zakonom o izmjenama i dopunama Zakona o znanstvenoj djelatnosti i visokom obrazovanju (NN, br. 105/04.).

 

The statistical survey covers all schools of higher education in the Republic of Croatia that establish and carry out the postgraduate university study for obtaining a doctoral degree or allow for obtaining a doctoral degree according to the Act on Scientific Activity and Higher Education (NN, No.123/03) and the Act on Amendments to the Act on Scientific Activity and Higher Education (NN, No. 105/04).

Doktor znanosti jest osoba koja je obranila doktorsku disertaciju (NSKO, razina 6).

 

Doctor of science is a person who defended a doctoral dissertation (ISCED level 6).

 

 

 

Visoko učilište jest ustanova visoke naobrazbe ovlaštena za ustroj i izvedbu studija te znanstvenoga, visokostručnoga ili umjetničkog rada. Visoka učilišta jesu sveučilište te fakulteti i umjetničke akademije u njegovu sastavu, veleučilište i visoka škola. Visoka učilišta mogu biti javna i privatna.

 

Institution of higher education is any institution authorised to organise and implement courses of study as well as scientific research, highly professional or artistic work. Institutions of higher education are divided in the following way: university and adjoining faculties and art academies, polytechnic and school of higher education. Institutions of higher education may be public and private.

 

 

 

Poslijediplomski sveučilišni studij može se upisati nakon završetka diplomskoga sveučilišnog studija.

 

The postgraduate university study can be enrolled after the completion of a graduate university study.

 

 

 

Poslijediplomski sveučilišni studij traje po pravilu tri godine. Ispunjenjem svih propisanih uvjeta te javnom obranom doktorskog rada stječe se akademski stupanj doktor znanosti odnosno doktorica znanosti (dr. sc.) ili  doktor umjetnosti odnosno doktorica umjetnosti (dr. art.) uz naznaku znanstvenog ili umjetničkog polja i grane, u skladu s Pravilnikom o znanstvenim i umjetničkim područjima, poljima i granama (NN, br. 118/09.).

 

Postgraduate university study, as a rule, lasts for three years. After fulfilling all conditions and on public defending of a doctoral dissertation, a person obtains an academic degree of the doctor of science (Dr. Sc.) or the doctor of art (Dr. Art) with a reference to the field of study, in line with the Rule Book of Scientific and Artistic Disciplines, Fields and Branches (NN, No. 118/09).

 

 

 

Studenti upisani na poslijediplomski doktorski studij prije ustrojavanja poslijediplomskih studija u skladu s odredbama spomenutog zakona imaju pravo dovršiti studij prema nastavnom programu i uvjetima koji su vrijedili pri upisu u prvu godinu studija i steći odgovarajući akademski stupanj prema propisima koji su vrijedili prije stupanja na snagu tog zakona. Studenti kojima je na temelju prijašnjih propisa odobrena tema za izradu doktorskog rada bez doktorskog studija imaju pravo obrane doktorskog rada i stjecanja doktorata znanosti prema propisima koji su vrijedili do stupanja na snagu tog zakona.

 

Students enrolled in postgraduate doctoral study before the establishment of postgraduate studies pursuant to provisions of this Act will have the right to complete the study according to the curriculum and conditions required at the enrolment in the first year of study and obtain the appropriate academic degree according to the regulations in force before entry into force of this Act. Students to whom the topic of their doctoral dissertation without the doctoral study has been approved according to the previous regulations will have the right to defend their doctoral dissertation and obtain the scientific doctoral degree according to the regulations in force before entry into force of this Act.

 

 

 

Osobe koje su prema propisima koji su bili na snazi prije stupanja na snagu tog zakona stekle magisterij znanosti mogu u skladu s općim aktom sveučilišta steći doktorat znanosti obranom doktorskog rada prema propisima koji su vrijedili na dan stupanja na snagu Zakona, najkasnije u roku od osam godina od dana stupanja na snagu.

 

Persons who have obtained the master’s degree according to the regulations in force before entry into force of this Act may, in accordance with the regulations of the university, obtain the doctoral degree by defending the doctoral dissertation according to the regulations in force on the date of entry into force of this Act, at the latest within the term of eight years from the date of its entry into force.

 

 

 

Visoko učilište može, ako je to predviđeno njegovim općim aktom, osobama koje su upisale poslijediplomski znanstveni magistarski studij prema propisima koji su vrijedili prije stupanja na snagu Zakona, ali taj studij nisu dovršile, omogućiti na njihov zahtjev da, uz ispunjavanje određenih uvjeta (polaganje ispita, izvršavanje drugih obaveza), studij završe izradom doktorske disertacije i time steknu doktorat znanosti.

 

Students enrolled in postgraduate master’s study according to provisions valid before entry into force of this Act, but have not completed it, may have the right, at their request, to complete the study, providing that they fulfilled certain conditions (passing of exams, fulfilling other obligations), by producing the doctoral dissertation and obtain the degree of the doctor of science, if it is defined in general provisions of the university.

 

 

 

Doktorat znanosti iznimno mogu steći osobe koje su ostvarile znanstvena dostignuća koja svojim značenjem odgovaraju uvjetima za izbor u znanstvena zvanja na temelju odluke nadležnog vijeća utvrđenoga statutom sveučilišta o ispunjavanju propisanih uvjeta te izrade i javne obrane doktorskog rada uz suglasnost senata sveučilišta.

 

Exceptionally, persons who have accomplished scientific achievements which by their significance satisfy the requirements for the election to scientific degrees, may be awarded a doctor’s degree, on the basis of the decision of a competent committee, as defined in the Statute of the university, on fulfilling required conditions as well as after the producing and defending in public the doctoral dissertation, with the consent of the Senate of a university.
