Effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on socioeconomic indicators

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the monthly turnover from service activities increased by 1.6% in August 2020. At the annual level, the turnover from service activities has been decreasing for the sixth month in a row and the total working-day adjusted turnover from service activities decreased by 11.5% in August 2020 compared to the same period of 2019.

In the first eight months of 2020, the turnover from service activities decreased at the annual level, by 11.8%, which is the largest decrease since the beginning of the measurement of monthly series.

The highest increase in turnover was realised in the following two activities: Publishing activities, by 18.9%, and Real estate activities, by 10.4%.

Since March 2020, when the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic occurred in the Republic of Croatia, the highest decrease in the turnover from service activities for the sixth month in a row was recorded in activity N 79 Travel agency, tour operator reservation services and related activities, of -71,9%1), and in activity 55 Accommodation, of -47.1%.
